The Fitness and Sports Training (FAST) Academy offers students academic and career technical training in the fields of sports training, personal fitness, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. Students research various aspects of the fitness industry, tour local fitness providers, and participate in related internships. Career content is linked to academic classes (Description taken from the Salinas Union High School District list of courses).
Students interested in the FAST Academy take the recommended core courses as shown in the flow chart. To remain active in the academy, students must take a minimum of two core courses in the academy each year. The remaining classes in a student's schedule are general courses and electives needed to graduate. To open the flow chart, select the pdf file shown below.
Applications for the FAST Academy are available online from this website. Select Forms for a copy of the pdf file. Applications may also be obtained from Ms. Rede in the Counseling Office, from Ms. Anderson in room 605, or from any of the counseling staff. Acceptance letters to the FAST Academy are mailed before the end of the school year.
